The Echoes App

The Echoes app is a software that is mainly used for virtual tours around various spots all around the world. It’s an interactive app that uses geolocation to create a sound experience exploring curated audio experiences. The use we have for the app is to get into groups and create our own virtual experience.

Our idea

Of course we wouldn’t use the standard chronological walk through tour. I got into a group with Flora and Sonny and we came up with an idea to make three sets of music that work together when walked into the centre of all the circles. I played some guitar and we overlapped some of Sonny’s drums and Flora on vocals. The way that it works is you can place a visual bubble somewhere on the map that will play audio when you walk into the bubble. The app uses spacial audio so depending on where you are in the bubble the closer you get to the centre the louder the audio.

These are the circles. The idea is that when you are in the centre of all three circles you hear the song, our collaboration process was very music based but I’m happy with how it turned out. I like the idea that anyone can curate their own virtual experience and describe a certain place with their art work.
