Class crits today and talk about my collaborative process
- Talk about Harley and the work that he does
- Talk about your brothers and their photos and what work I want to make with their photos
- Decided to record Harley doing his work for my final project
What are the key challenges for you of collaborating versus your solo work? Is there a difference?
One of the main challenges of collaborating compared to working on my own is having to balance different ideas and approaches. When I’m working solo, I have full control over decisions, which makes the process more direct and intuitive. I can follow my own pace and trust my instincts without needing to explain or justify them.
In collaboration, things become more complex. You have to communicate your ideas clearly, listen to others, and sometimes compromise. Not everyone hears or understands things in the same way, especially when working with sound, so aligning those perspectives can be challenging. It can slow the process down, but it can also push the work in directions I wouldn’t have reached on my own.
Reflective
- The criticism from the work I want to produce is that I need to understand the artistic conversation from me to Harley
- I think the main struggle I have with the project is understanding why my undercurrent of conversation flows with Harley
